westling with the unexpected

Being a sound recordist, means that your job is likely to have a level of day to day variety that’s very unusual for many other professions. A great example of this was a job I did recently, recording event sound & timecode coordination for “Sakebra” a Japanese Female Wrestling event in east London. I was invited along by the excellent team of Moonshine Film & had a blast experiencing this very modern take on the age-old format of professional wrestling, along with a dedicated & committed fan base! The Recording consisted of a stereo pair from the upper level stand, 4 mic’s int he fly’s dropped down over the crowd (around the ring), 2 mics inside the actual ring, an announcer mic, & 3 handheld mics for the talent, along with a PA feed for entrance music.
